Can you see people outside of aged care?
Not at present because there is not enough available doctor time to provide this service. When we expand we will offer care to those in supported units co-located with the aged care facilities.
Can you provide palliative care and care at end of life at the RACFs?
Absolutely! One of our goals is to keep people in the community at end of life. Our doctors are experienced in palliative care, and work closely with the specialist palliative care service.
Can I keep my previous GP and just see you for emergencies?
Unfortunately for medicare you need to be registered with a GP in order for them to provide care. We can only see you if you are registered with us. We are happy to take a comprehensive handover from your GP, and expect all your past records to be forwarded to us within two weeks so we can provide safe care.
Do you charge gap fees?
No we do not. In general we bulk bill, although in some circumstances Medicare requires us to get additional paperwork signed – for example when we organise care for you by phone. Staff at the aged care facility will have these forms available when this happens and can assist you with them. We do charge a fee for non-medical care such as legal or banking paperwork.
Is there anything you don’t provide?
At the moment we cannot do procedures – this includes skin checks and biopsies/excision, ear syringing and other minor surgery. We are happy to refer you to one of the local skin clinics or other specialists.
Do you have more detailed information?
Yes, go to our Documentation page, where you can download and read more.
